The IEEE Industrial visit for the second years of the College of Engineering, Chengannur, was conducted on January 30, 2010. At 6:15 in the morning, two buses with 83 students( about 75 IEEE members and remaining non-members) along with Mr. Manoj Kumar, teacher-in-charge, left for Thiruvanathapuram, the Capital city of Kerala. The first stop after breakfast was at Keltron Control Systems, Trivandrum, where the students had a glimpse of the various components belonging to the field of Industrial & power electronics. Guided by a Keltron employee, the students were shown around and informed about the various invertors used in daily lives.

After a fun-ride in the bus, the students came to Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC). The visit here was very educative and inspiring as the students were taken through the proud moments in Indian space research and exploration. A brief but informative tour of the place, guided by one of the employees there, showed the students how such places work- the entire process of putting together a rocket and launching it.

The last event on the schedule was a trip to the Kovalam Beach. Fun and laughter filled the air, as the students ran about in water and on the sands of the beach. The students reached back college at 11:30 pm, having had a fun-filled and memorable day, which nobody is likely to forget in a hurry!

At the Annual AGM of Kerala section held on Jan 23 at Mascot Hotel, Trivandrum. CEC received three awards during the AGM. CEC was presented with the outstanding student branch in Kerala section. Mr. Arjun R Pillai received the award for Outstanding LINK volunteer and Mrs Prathiba received the award for the Oustanding WIE volunteer. CEC was given a special mention for being the co-organizers of the IEEE 125 year celebrations r10 student congress 2009, held at singapore.
